I recently moved into a new house, but before move day my dad was able to get me some furniture that was thrown out at his workplace.
None of it was terrible, but it wasn’t the cutest stuff you’ve ever seen. With the help of my sister, however, we were able to make it unique and match in an eclectic sort of way.
I painted this wooden chest of drawers off-white. Then my sister cut out a pattern from some cardboard and we used it to put the pattern all over the furniture. Now, we use it as a coffee table that stores DVDs and blankets.
This is a small plastic stand that we used off-white paint for plastic on. After painting the base on, we took a bold yellow and mixed in some white to make it a little more subtle. Little did we know, it turned out to be very similar to Walmart’s logo.
The table top, which had been in storage in my dad’s shed for two years, had gotten water damage so he found me another table top, cut it down and after a lot of sanding we painted it with the off-white paint.
My sister cut out the tree and bird, we laid it on the table and painted.
Last, I painted these wooden chairs before going off to college. All I did was sand them down, apply paint and then use a rag to take some of the paint off so it looked a little distressed.
After all three projects, we shellacked and let dry. Now, we have unique furniture that is totally us!
